Dir. Justin Lin | U.S. 2007 | 88min | Cast: Sung Kang, Roger Fan, Dustin Nugyen

The unexpected death of Bruce Lee before he completed THE GAME OF DEATH immediately drives Hollywood executives to search for his replacement. Director Justin Lin (BETTER LUCK TOMORROW; THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT) lampoons the absurd workings of the dream factory in this hilarious faux documentary, wryly dissecting racial politics that still ring true today. Join cast and crew (Justin, Sung Kang, Roger Fan) at our 70s-themed party after the screening.

DARK MATTER delves into the world of Liu Xing (Liu Ye, superstar from China), an eager Chinese student pursuing his Ph.D. in cosmology. Driven by ambition, yet unable to navigate through the delicate social rules enforced by American society, he is inexorably pushed to the margins where his thirst for recognition and achievement takes a tragic toll. Cast and crew present.

AAIFF pays tribute to the trailblazing HK director Patrick Tam whose first film in 17 years, AFTER THIS OUR EXILE, swept all the major awards at the recent HK Film Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Our retrospective includes two rarely-seen classics that helped launch the HK New Wave, THE SWORD and NOMAD, and One on One live stage conversation with Patrick in person.
