President Barack Obama in Chicago

Barack Obama at the 2008 DNC

I have spent my life working closely with Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. I was raised in both Hawaii, a majority AAPI state, and Indonesia and Asian Americans are close members of my multi-racial, multi-ethnic family. I have spent my career in Springfield and Washington working on behalf of Illinois' vibrant and diverse AAPI communities.

I came to understand that to truly solve the problems facing our communities, it would take a change in our laws and our politics. I ran and served for seven years in the Illinois state Senate, where I fought for expanding children's health care, providing tax cuts for the working poor and enacting welfare reform. In 2004, I was elected to the U.S. Senate, where I have worked to pass laws securing dangerous weapons and making government more accountable. I have also opposed the Iraq war from the start, and believe that we need to bring our troops home so we can refocus on the wider struggle against terrorism.

Of all my life experiences, I am most proud of my wife Michelle and my daughters Malia and Sasha.

Your Call

Posted March 26th, 2009 at 09:35pm

Mitch Stewart, Director of Organizing for America, recently sent the following message:

Members of Congress will begin debating President Obama's budget this week, with a vote likely set for next week.

What you do now will decide what kind of debate they have -- one that's dominated by special interests and partisan voices intent on keeping the status quo, or one that reflects the priorities of citizens like you.

Call your elected representatives now to let them know where you stand.

Call your representatives

Last week, thousands canvassed their communities to talk with neighbors about the need for a new direction. Now, it's time to take that message to Washington.

We can't afford to ignore the long-term threats to our prosperity. Now is the time to build the foundation for a recovery that lasts.

Your representatives need to know you support:
  • Renewable energy to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil
  • Making health care more affordable for every American by cutting costs
  • Improving education so our children are prepared for the jobs of the 21st Century
Get your representatives' contact information now and make your voice heard:

Thanks,

Mitch

..."I Had A Dream"...

A man once said "I Had A Dream" but before it came true, a fool shot him dead. The door was opened on that day and a seed was planted,to show the way.

So much grief and so much pain, everyone was looking for someone to blame. For forty years things were not right, people pointing fingers, people wanting to fight.

Tears were shed, sorrow was felt as a serious blow had been dealt. For forty years things seemed to be lost, causing this country a very heavy cost. It made me wonder and made me cry, asking why this loving man had to die. Forty years our hopes were lost, knowing only our dreams were tossed.

Today has come, bringing the dawn of a brand new day, forty years later showing a brand new way.Praying and hoping a new horizon is is on it's way..

Dr. Martin Luther King did not get to shake your hand, but he surly knows you are the right kind of man. Many years and many miles have passed this way,but you give us back our dreams and will lead us into a brighter day.

Author: Richard A.Evans

Congratulations, President Obama... ...May God walk with you and guide you through your trying days...

My prayers go out to Obama and his family for the loss of Madelyn Dunham, his grandmother. She was taken away the day before history is made, but she will be smiling from Heaven by tomorrow night.

Congratulation Mr. President

For the historic landslide victory, yes it will be a landslide, and Mr. Mccain can't stop the will of the majority of American voters who is dreaming for CHANGE. CHANGE that we are confident that you can bring not only for America but for the whole world.

All I can donate is my prayer, May the Lord our God guide you and bless you always.
