I joined this site for a variety of reasons, and perhaps my reasons are better insights into my mental recesses than say a list of abstract favorites.

I am a writer working on various projects that focuses on the lives of two of the most under represented faces in Western Media; the Black female, and the Asian male. Determined to make my characters more than stereotypes or white-washed/white friendly caricatures which the West's dominated WASPHM (white Anglo-Saxon protestant heterosexual male) media demographic are comfortable continuously portraying (and no doubt other brown folk get paid to redistribute), I joined Asian Ave, hoping membership will lead to the kind of progressive interaction that will allow me to successfully create accurate portrayals of AMs and BWs. That is to say I am seeking assistance from Asian Males (as I am not one), other black females (as I am only one representative of this category) and brown folk overall. Since this statement could be viewed as an opening for an overly touchy individual to claim I am being discriminatory, I assure you that I do welcome white opinions, however my work is designed as a counter to that of the western media heavily doused by the white perspective no matter how outwardly diverse the cast. My goal is to really present other views, for the purpose of talking to those sharing that view NOT as a way of explaining them to those who don't.

In addition to gaining assistance for this work, I am also interested in acquiring friends for critical discussion and overall development, as I am heavily isolated at my current location.
