On the eve of two cataclysmic events the Iraq war (March 2003) and a SARS epidemic engulfing China a young American man, George, waits in Beijing, as promised, for his Iraqi lover Nadia. She leaves their whirlwind romance in Paris to return to her homeland of Baghdad, but not before setting a date to meet him in China yet, she doesn't appear for their rendezvous. As the world watches the US invade Iraq, George meets Judy, a young Chinese woman that has lost direction in her life. When Judy learns of the lovers' story of separation and despair, she pledges to help George locate Nadia, finding her own heart's desire along the way.
