That strong, independent girl.
That play no games, curse your name chick.
I be that bad attitude, smack ya mouth
Apologize after I call you out,
Give you my last dollar and not eat
Give up my bed so you have a place to sleep
At the same time tell you just the way to be.
I be confused about the world
An enigma in mundane clothes.
I be the shape of your shadow
And the thorn of the rose
I'm that sweetie pie that never cries
Except when its bad enough.
I'm the wanna be singer/dancer/poet/actor
Who only wants to teach
I am the bookworm in the corner
The one in the class...sleep
I am the sister you love to hate
I am a future mother ready to take down anyone who threatens my seed
I am the wife who will cater to his every need
And never take the B.S.
I am the one who will put you to the test.
I am also shy and sometimes insecure
I am the one who cries and feels abused.
I am the one constantly accused
Juxtaposition in the mirror of an image on the page
The photo smudged and distorted.
I am the flawed perfection in a model.
I am the the beautiful robin and the swallow.
I am everything and nothing
The Less and the more.
So no I can't be who you want to be. I can not be your clay to mold.
I can only be who I am.
Writer, Lover, Actor, Daughter, Singer, Poet,
Dancer, Friend, Sister, Psycho, Martial Artist,
Dreamer, Lover, Fighter, Believer, Unique
And Unbelievably Me.
And that's all I aspire to be.
