The purchasing and supply community provides the organization and availability of materials and resources to help each mission run successfully and safely. If you are responsible, possess good math skills, and are detail-oriented, this could be the career field for you.
You may find yourself inspecting and organizing a destroyers postal center or ships store to maximize productivity and the delivery of letters or supplies. Or maybe youll evaluate different bids and proposals for flight equipment to outfit your squadrons pilots and aircrew personnel. Some of your other duties may be to:Keep fiscal records of a facility Order, store, check and issue Naval aircraft and aeronautical equipment and accessories, including flight gear Prepare inventory reports and correspondence Keep official publications up to date Maintain financial logs and records Operate computer systems that provide logistic support information for submarine supplies and accounting functions Organize and operate Navy post offices, ashore and afloat PROVE YOURSELF ON THE GLOBAL STAGEBe sure to add world traveler to your impressive resumé. You wont just facilitate the acquisition of needed supplies for forces in far-flung locations around the globe, but youll also visit many of those places in person. WHILE YOU ATTEND TO YOUR CAREER, WELL ATTEND TO YOUR EDUCATION.In the purchasing and supply field, you may have an opportunity for continued education through various college and tuition assistance programs including up to $70,000 for college. Some of the training received in this field will translate toward semester credit hours for a vocational certificate, as well as a bachelors or associate degree. Advanced technical training is also available.
