Infection Preventionist - Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children's Hospital - Providence, RI

The Infection Preventionist (IP) working in the Department of Epidemiology & Infection Control under the supervision of a Director and Medical Director,, is responsible for investigating hospital acquired infections through the use of advanced surveillance techniques, develops and implements policies and procedures related to epidemiology, infection control and infectious diseases. Using standard epidemiologic methods and the IP is able to function independently. The IP will join a team of six experienced practitioners and a medical director who is a former SHEA president, internationally-recognized in infection control.

We are looking for an individual interested in cutting edge, evidence-based infection control practice.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in medical technology, nursing or other healthcare related field. Evidence of graduate level courses in microbiology or epidemiology preferred.

Three years experience in hospital epidemiology/infection control.

Incumbent must be CBIC certified or meet eligibility requirements for such certification.

Demonstrated knowledge of the care provided in the tertiary, acute-care hospital to patients throughout the continuum of life with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Demonstrated skills with personal computers and software to include database management, spreadsheets, word processing and graphics applications.

Demonstrated skill with both verbal and written communication.
