personal messageCurrent news in Shonnie's world (01/04/2009) : I've been suffering from countless sleepless nights as I torment myself with the thought of law school. I submitted all my applications the second/third week of last month. With the time winding down to get acceptances, presumably next month~April, I'm at a standstill, nervewrecking meltdown stage. I took my family to MoMa to start off the New Year day. We lived across the river for around 4 years now and they've only been to the Met! MoMa was far too crowded- and it doesn't help to be tiny. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed their first couple days of 2009 and wish you all the best! I'm a 5'2 little Japanese Korean American with a heart of Gold babe~ ahhahha. hm. Being a random ranting Asian girl is a talent- and I've mastered it. Let me express my randomness, which is a key charateristic of my identity. I obsessively go to Costcos for food tasting, read People magazine like its a religion.. and gag at the sight of Slim Fast. I have to divorce my blackberry before I, a certified crackberry-ist, I lose my mind.. it's next to some part of my body at all times- it's pretty swell as a weapon with it's intimidating brick-size. I was born in Singapore, raised in.. Malaysia, Frisco (CA), Korea, Hong Kong, China.. then came to NY for school and reside across the river from the city as I work as a compliance analyst for LG (insurance department- yes, they do more than make those ugly phones) while preparing for law school. So.. why am I here? Trying to get in touch with my wild sided Asian roots... lets get buck in here --------------- I'm completely and utterly random, blunt, and most of the time happy-go-lucky down-to-earth. I actually am loving my life living with my parents- of course, with Asian rents you know the drill: all the massive restrictions? holy geebus. but u know, one day you'll regret all the days you passed without them when you had the chance. Here's a passion of mine that.. perhaps many people do or don't share. I'm not the typical "this is my fate" type of person.. however, I do feel that I can make a purpose for my being here and know that if I pursue and fulfill my passion, I can and will be genuinely happy. I wrote something like this on PETA's forum somewhere and have been actively assisting others to help out animals in need.. It's my passion: "My everlasting passion to help animals started in my childhood. I never learned about animal cruelty until media attention drew my focus in. My asian parents are highly traditional and decided to give me two very uneasy choices: become a lawyer or a doctor. My dream was to become a vet, then I found a way to win-win the situation. I decided to become a lawyer and devote my entire life to pro bono work (of course that would be my "side" job, girl's got to eat) advocating animal rights. I want to spread the word and became a reborn vegetarian- and it sure is a statement coming from an individual who was practically osbessed with meat dishes. I will start vonluteering at animal shelters to promote animal health and safe adoptions. I've already started proposing ideas for people whom want to buy new pets- I assure them i'd help out with any measures I can to assist them with. I own a dog and had to give up my other dog last last year when he bit one of my family members. It was possibly the most traumatizing and excruciatingly painful experience in my entire life. I'm only 23, but let me tell you: as long as I live, animals will be my passion forever. I was fortunate to be born into a family that provides less stress regarding financial issues, and I want to become the voice that will be heard for the neglected and abused animals. This promise will surely last forever." Animal's # 1, caring for orphans is a close #2.. and the list follows. I feel that every child, every animal deserves the right to live, and live comfortably. |
