The Power of Angryasianman.com

Posted October 06th, 2009 at 01:34am

As most of you know, Angryasianman.com is a well-known site about anything Asian-related, although more towards Asian-American. Anything in terms of empowerment, community, and arts/entertainment can be found there. As the matter of fact, that site is where I discovered a lot of the artists that I play (El Gambina, Dumbfounded, etc...).

Back when I first launched my radio show, I sent them an email, to ask if they can post a blurb on their site, to let people know that I exist. Afternearly a month, I thought that they had forgotten about me, however, lo and behold, last Friday, they did it!

http://www.angryasianman.com/2009/10/beats-from-east.html

And since then, downloads have been coming in up the yin-yang! I started off only getting downloads in 4-5 cities on the East Coast, maybe 2 in the West, plus a few (here and there) in Asian and Europe. That has changed a lot, since angryasinaman.com helped out...

See the map below, to check out who's been downloading!

The Upper-Canada and Mid-west U.S.A. need a bit of work, but I'll get there yet!

Oh yeah, 2 other things. Because of this exposure on this site:

1) a couple of artists even emailed me some tracks to play

as well as

2) an anonymous activist (someon named "Ksm Zbfp") sent me about 100 links about  Abolishing/Boycotting Racism & Stereotyping vs. Asians. Whoever you are, Mr. Anonymous, thanks!

JOB crap

Posted October 01st, 2009 at 03:55pm

I'm having a feeling that there's some shady shiiite going on at my work right now.

As we all know how the economy is, the company laid off 14 people recently. The only thing is that they need to provide each laid-off employee a certain package, which still comes out of their pockets.

So, I'm suspecing that the next step for them is to piss people off enough so that they quit on their own and then the company does not have owe them any package.

Reason is that the management's been acting funny over the last few weeks.

I work at an IT company, by the way. We assist clients of different companies with their PC, server, and network  issues, etc....

I've been happy at this position for 3 years, but all of a sudden they are asking me weird questions and want to keep track of different things. It was never a question before. They were happy with my work. Example...since I have a different job than most people, I am not in their scheduling system. And because of that, technically, I'm never late for work as long as I do my 8 hours. Yesterday, after 3 years of this arrangement, I was asked what time I'm supposed to start because my manager wants to keep track of lateness. Why now?

Last week, I was asked to help the call takers, for a day, since they were real busy. I was glad to help. The next day, when I was resuming my duties : "hey Mike, we told you yesterday that we needed you on the phones for the entire week"...whoa..."today" does not equal "entire week". You can't give people crap for disobeying an order you never gave out in the first place! When I told my manager "You guys never told me that I needed to be on for the entire week"...he just replied "ok".  WTF

And a few  weeks ago, my manager "Patel", asks me fo a doctor's note, even when... I have 5 sick days left to use.

So, something's up for sure.

I'm carrying my tape recorder everywhere I go. If they're gonna lay me off for staffing purposes, fine...but I want my package...doing stupidness to try to get me to quit is an attack on my rights.

more on this as it unfolds.
