The Japanese car giant Mitsubishi is planning to launch its new model Colt by December 2011 to the comparatively new compact hatchback segment in Indian market. The Mitsubishi Colt will be a strong competitor to Skoda Fabia, Hyundai I20, and Honda Jazz. The new Colt is considered to be launched with loads of improved technical and intelligent features, which makes the car a strong rival to the others in its segment. The Colt's launch will certainly strengthen Mitsubishi's range in the rapidly growing Indian automobile market.

Mitsubishi Colt comes with the company's trademark bonnet and bumpers. The Japanese designers have given the Colt a completely different and stunning looks for a car in the compact hatchback segment. The exterior features include adjustable headlights, fog lights at both front and rear ends, electric folding rear view mirror. The car has got rain sensing wiper in the front, rear window wiper with washer, and also a rear window defogger. The sun roof, power antenna, and the turn indicators on the outside rear view mirrors give the car an upmarket feel. Feeling the pressure of competition in the category, Mitsubishi has given extra effort in maintaining the standards and features of Colt in Indian market. The Colt comes with auto adjustable seats and steering, power windows, leather covered power steering comes with multi-function, fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, rear A/C vents, and had given headed seats at the front and rear. The car has got a digital odometer, tachometer, outside temperature display, digital clock, and a glove compartment. Added features include vanity mirror, cup holders at the front and rear, trunk light, rear reading lamp, and the seats comes with excellent lumbar support. The Mitsubishi Colt will be launched with a 1.5 liter four cylinder engine as the power house, which will be available in both diesel and petrol. Colt's engine will be able to generate a maximum power of 70 bhp and a maximum torque of 210 Nm @ 1800 rpm. The vehicle comes with five speed transmission and loads of performance boosting features that enhances the performance of the car. For improving the safety and handling, the Colt has got traction control system, brake assist with Anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake Distribution. The car comes with McPherson Strut suspension at the front and Torsion bar at the back. The extended safety features include air bags at the front and side, child safety locks, anti-theft alarm, door ajar warning, front and side impact beams, crash sensors etc. The high performing 1.5 liter engine of the Mitsubishi Colt will be able to deliver a pleasing mileage in the range from 15 to 19 kmpl. The price tag comes in the range of 6 to 8 lakhs in Indian market, which feels a little bit higher, but the pack of exciting features and high performance engine, which is available in both petrol and diesel variants, the car will be a strong rival in its class.
